Festive occasions in Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha temple are

Makaravilakku
Makaravilakku,
the annual festival of this temple bears a unique status. It
comes in the month of January every year. As per the Malayalam Era,
the first day of the Makaram Month is celebrated as the
Makaravilakku in the temple. Thamaramkulangara Ayyappa Seva
Samithy designs the programmes of Makaravilakku in such a way to keep
the holiness of the temple precincts.
The six day long
celebrations begins with the Holy Flag hoisting (Kodiyettam
) by Chief Priest ( Thantri) five days prior to the Makaravilakku day.
In the coming
Year (2004) the festival begins on
Saturday, 10th
January.

DwajaPrathishta
Dinam
DwajaPrathishta
Dinam is the anniversary of the erection of the Holy Flag Post
(Kodimaram) in the temple. It comes on 27th March, every year.

Painguni
Uthram

- Painguni Uthram is the Birthday
of Lord Sree Dharmasastha. Uthram star in the month of Meenam, as
per Malayalam era is celebrated as Painguni Uthram. This year it is celebrated in a grand manner with Ayyappa Laksharchana, Naamasankeerthanam by Sri. Mannapra Mohan and Appam Offering to Lord Sree Dharmasastha on 18th March (Tuesday).

Vishu vilakku

- Vishu is celebrated on the
first day of Medam as per Malayalam Calendar. This year it will be
celebrated on Tuesday,15th April by conducting Maha Ganapathy Homam.

Karkidaka
Niramala

- The temple is decorated with
different types of flowers and traditional oil lamps in the last day
of the Karkidakam month of Malayalam Calendar. This day is
celebrated as the Karkidaka Niramala. This year its on Saturday,
16th August.

Navarathri
Navarathri is celebrated in the temple on the Durgashtami, Mahanavami
and Vijayadasami day every year with cultural programmes that
cultivates Bhakthi in the temple precincts and Vidyarambham is
performed in the temple on VijayaDasami day. Its
considered very auspicious to have Vidyarambham infront Lord Sree
Dharmasastha. This year Vijayadasami is celebrated on Sunday,
5th October.

Sasthaam
Paattu
Sasthaam Paattu is a traditional art found in the central Kerala.
It is also known as Ayyappan Paattu. Its a musical art form in
which a team of people sings the songs praising Lord Ayyappa by
playing a unique percussion instrument called 'Udukku'. The main
attraction among the songs is the song that describes the Birth of
Lord Ayyappa.
In Thamaramkulangara, Sasthaam Paattu is Performed on the first Saturday
of Vrischikam month as per the Malayalam era. In the noon of
Sasthaam Paattu day, Annadhaanam is performed to all the
Devotees.
This Year (2003) Sasthaam Paattu will be celebrated on December 6,
Saturday.
